Darren Hayes - The Tension and the Spark [2004]

Remember Savage Garden? Well, their lead singer, Darren Hayes, has his own solo career nowadays, and his second solo album, The Tension and the Spark, is nothing short of some of the best electronic pop I’ve ever heard. With a whole lot of call-backs to the 80’s (including the fact that the entire album was programmed on a Fairlight CMI), its sounds fit together perfectly, creating his first entirely electronic album (his second, This Delicate Thing We’ve Made, a 2-disc set, is also out now) and one of the finest synthpop experiences I’ve ever heard. In my opinion, his best album to date. If you like his voice, or even indie-tronic/synthpop/electronic music or similar things, you owe it to yourself to check it out.
